Even if you do not like horses, this is a BAD idea all around!
First off, horses that are sent to slighter are there for a very distinct set of reasons:
1) Owners couldn’t care for them anymore, and MAY be healthy
2) Off the racetrack or some other sporting industry and 99% of the time are sick, injured or what have you.
3)Are discarded from the Premarin industry
I am not typing this as a horse crazy kid or tree hugger or whatever term non-animal lovers choose to give me.
I am typing this as a equine professional, having worked side-by-side with a research professional, RN’s and doctors who were campaigning plant derivatives by used instead to prevent the use of mare urine in the manufacturing of estrogen replacement drugs.
Performance horses are just like human athletes without the FDA monitoring the drugs that go into their bodies. Horses are given antti worming, tranquilizers, pain killers, shots to get rid of ticks, shots to preent rabies, shots for this, shots for that. I don’t know any horse that isn’t given supplements in their food. They eat grass that has sprayed with chemicals, they eat all sorts of weird connections to help with their coats or hooves. They are covered in fly spray, tick prevention, enhancers, etc.
Nothing that horses are given at any given moment has been approved to be SAFE for human consumption.
So again, even if you don’t care about the horses themselves, think about how you are getting this meat and how unsanitary slaughterhouses are.
If this was a case of taking flesh that was already dead and feeding it to the hungry, that would be one thing, but you know there is going to be big profits made off this for all the wrong reasons.
A wrote this cover letter to a HP store that I want to work at! I hope they respond!!!!
Greetings Wizards and Witches,
Allow me to introduce myself. I Professor Higgleboggins, but my muggle name is Lisa Roberts. I have heard about your clever establishment from one of my talented students Anaya Taylor, who had her birthday party with you on 4/10. Of course she told me to contact you asap to inquiry if you would need the services as such an experienced Professor and teacher and Tour Guide such as myself. I regret that my owl was not used to LA pollution and is in the owlery with an oxygen mask.
I currently uprooted myself from Salem Massachusetts, ( did you know that Salem is the only US city to be mentioned in the Harry Potter books?) where I was a tour guide for 6 years. I brought muggles through the various haunted places of Salem and taught them about real magick, history, art, and told them wonderful stories about ghosts, or as I call them Apparition Americans.
There was a wondrous event in Salem in 2005 called The Witching Hour, which allowed witches and wizards from all over the world to embark upon the streets of Salem in mass numbers. I was featured in their program book, was on the Logistics committee and also taught a class called “The Art of Magical Creatures”. We were featured in the newspapers and I was photographed many times with Percy Weasley, or as the muggles call him, Chris Rankin, as he attended our Quidditch games. Yes, I am also a Quidditch player. My team, The Haunted Footsteps Ghosts, took the silver!
There are few, um, older, witches such as myself who are as enthralled by Mr. Potter as I am. Leaving Salem was a culture shock, as my fair city truly is a real life Hogsmead, but I am hopeful that your clever alley will be a nice replacement.
At any rate, my muggle persona would love to converse with someone about working at such a fine place.
Please contact me by any electronic means you have. I fear using owls would be messy and unfair to the poor creatures.
